Easter

The first forsythia;
daffodils;
gorse or whins or furze
on hills,

in hedges.
Late winter aconite;
dandelions; primroses
challenging the light

of Easter morning.
The lesser Celandine;
a yellow fertilizer
bag define

spring in our steps.
I love my children
and my wife.
Rise all again and again.

--Peter Fallon (1951- ), Irish poet and editor
