Concluding Prayers for POP for 4th after Epiphany B

God of every land and nation,
you have created all people
and you dwell among us in Jesus Christ.
Listen to the cries of those who pray to you,
and grant that, as we proclaim the greatness of your name,
all people will know the power of love at work in the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OR

Holy God, you gather the whole universe
into your radiant presence
and continually reveal your Son as our Savior.
Bring healing to all wounds,
make whole all that is broken,
speak truth to all illusion,
and shed light in every darkness,
that all creation will see your glory and know your Christ. Amen.

Prayers of the People for Epiphany Season (Anglican Church of Canada)

God of light and life, our prayers rise before you this day in hope and faith.
We pray for your church, for our diocese, bishops, clergy and all people... (petitions may be added)

Flame of abundant love, be our Joy in proclaiming your Good News to the world.
We pray for all who are coming to faith, all who wonder about faith, and all who are struggling with faith... (petitions may be added)

Light of all creation, guide us to lead, teach and nurture your disciples
We pray for those in need of food, shelter, clothing, and of God's healing touch, especially those for whom our prayers are especially desired ... (petitions may be added)

Comforter of the suffering, warm our hands to loving service.
We pray for the world, especially where there is trouble and suffering, far away or nearby... (petitions may be added)

Ember of steadfast care, fuel our passion to challenge injustice and violence and to pursue peace and reconciliation.
We pray for the land on which we stand, the peoples, creatures, plant life and waters around us... (petitions may be added)

Star blaze of glory, lead us to care for this fragile earth, our island home, and to heal the circle of creation.
God of radiant light, your love illumines our hopes before we know them, And our needs before we ask. Kindle your flame within us, that in our prayers and service, we may know your transforming presence at work in the world around us. All this we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Prayers of the People for Trinity Sunday

We come boldly to the throne of grace,
praying to the almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
for mercy and grace.
We plead before your throne in heaven.
Father of heaven, whose love profound
a ransom for our souls has found:
We pray for the world, created by your love,
for its nations and governments …
Extend to them your peace, pardoning love, mercy and grace.
We plead before your throne in heaven.

Almighty Son, incarnate Word,
our Prophet, Priest, Redeemer, Lord:
We pray for the Church, created for your glory,
for its ministry to reflect those works of yours …
Extend to us your salvation, growth, mercy and grace.
We plead before your throne in heaven.

Eternal Spirit, by whose breath
the soul is raised from sin and death:
We pray for families and individuals, created in your image,
for the lonely, the bereaved, the sick and the dying …
Breathe on them the breath of life
and bring them to your mercy and grace.
We plead before your throne in heaven.

Thrice holy! Father, Spirit, Son,
Mysterious Godhead, Three in One:
We pray for ourselves,
for your Church, for all whom we remember before you …

Bring us all to bow before your throne in heaven,
to receive life and pardon, mercy and grace for all eternity,
as we worship you, saying,
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Amen.

Prayers of the People Based on Psalm 51:10 (Pr. 19 C)

Celebrant:
Let us implore the Lord our God praying,
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.”

Leader:
We pray for leaders of the Church.
May they serve as examples
to those who would come to believe in Christ for eternal life.
May the Church place its hope in you, O God,
and not in human wisdom.

Silence

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Leader:
We pray for the leaders of the nations.
May they show mercy and advocate for the rights of the people.
May they, like Moses, seek the greater good rather than their own interests.

Silence

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Leader:
We thank you for all you created.
We thank you that your Son Jesus Christ rejoiced in your creation—
telling stories about sheep, praying in the wilderness and walking on the sea.
May we also appreciate the works of your hands.

Silence

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Leader:
We pray for the people in our lives.
May we learn to love the stiff-necked, the sinners
and all those in great need of your mercy.
Make us instruments of your peace.

(Allow the congregation to add their petitions and thanksgivings,
followed by Silence.)

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Leader:
We pray for the sick, the anxious and the sorrowful.
Make them hear of joy and gladness,
that broken bodies and broken spirits may rejoice.

Silence

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Leader:
We trust to your mercy, O God, all who have died.
May they rest eternally in your peace.
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, our God,
be honor and glory forever and ever.

Silence

People:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Prayers of the People for Epiphany Season

Celebrant:
Let us pray to God, who is made manifest in Jesus Christ, saying, Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Leader:
As the prophet Isaiah rang out, “Arise, shine; for your light has come”; empower your Church, O God, to ring out the Good News of the Light of your son Jesus, which pierces even the deepest darkness. Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

As a star rose high into the nighttime sky
to draw the nations to the Christ-child;
send your blessing, O God, on this nation, and every nation, and draw the whole world to your peace and truth. Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

As John the Baptist guided throngs of people to the edge of the wilderness and baptized Jesus in the River Jordan, we pray that you would guide our country and our leaders to the ways of justice and righteousness. Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Like the Magi who traveled from afar
to bring gifts and celebrate the Savior’s birth; we pray for this community, that we may bear your light into the darkness, and testify to Christ’s love to all we encounter Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

As Jesus climbed the mountaintop,
and proclaimed blessings on the people of the world; we pray for the sick and the distressed, the poor and the homeless. We especially pray for _____. Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

As Jesus called his disciples to leave their nets and boats, and follow him; we pray for those we love and who have answered your call to follow Jesus to your Heavenly Kingdom in the sure faith of the resurrection, especially _________. Give them your peace. Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Celebrant:
Lord Jesus, Light of the World,
hear our prayers, and make us reflections of your Light, that the places of darkness in our world would be pierced by your Light, and that all nations would be drawn to you and be overwhelmed with joy. Amen.
